Metamorphosis

The Project

What began as an aesthetic exploration of the body, a series of images constructed through the lens of fashion revealed itself. Over time, as something far deeper and wholly unexpected.

The project was born with a precise intention: to document the physical transformations of a single body through time. Yet, when I confronted the captured images, I understood that the metamorphosis I had photographed was also a mirror of my own. The one I silently traversed in the wake of my accident.

Each photograph carries within it a personal soundtrack: a single song, chosen not by chance, but by resonance. A piece of music that translates the emotional state and the vital moment each image once inhabited. And it was then, reviewing the work as a whole, that I discovered those songs, unplanned, unscripted, followed the very same narrative arc of transformation. As if the music, too, had mutated alongside me.

This project was exhibited at the IV Biennial of Contemporary Art of Once Foundation in 2014 edition of PhotoEspaña.

The Exhibition

IV Biennial Once Foundation (Madrid, 2014)

Metamorphosis was unveiled within the framework of the Fifth International Biennial of Contemporary Art of the ONCE Foundation, hosted at the prestigious Centro Centro space. It also formed part of the 2014 edition of PhotoEspaña.

I had the distinct privilege of exhibiting alongside artists whom I deeply admire, and my photographs were further distinguished by their own original soundscapes.

Beneath each image, a pair of headphones invited the viewer to immerse themselves in the music that had inspired the creation of each work, music whose very titles lent an additional layer of meaning to the metamorphosis I underwent, both as an individual and as an artist.

This entire project was accomplished in just a single afternoon, with a dedicated team of stylists, hairdressers, and assistants working alongside me to bring this metamorphosis to life in such a compressed timeframe.
