Impronta

The Project

Impronta responds to the immediacy with which the eyes are rewarded, left to drift witch soundtrack accompanies and stimulates the process of creating the image.

Under this premise, each of my walking trips meet the optimal conditions for this process being that in my pocket I have everything I need to capture photographs; soles moving with the rhythmn and with rhythm also the eyes, always alert, keeping alive the curiosity in the diary of my drift.

With the help of an application on my phone I got to travel back to analog that I miss to show what the lens captures, without any artifice or adjustments. Though all this is irrelevant if we put the image before any technical distraction.

The image is the most important.

Photography Book Impronta was released in 2015 by Ediciones Situacionistas.

Impronta New York City Opening

I was bestowed the singular honor of presenting my photography book Impronta in New York City at the esteemed Ángel Oresanz Foundation, nestled in the culturally rich landscape of Manhattan’s Lower East Side. This occasion was marked by the inauguration of a comprehensive solo photography exhibition, a curated assemblage of works that constitute the essence of the artistic vision.

To have the fortune of mounting a solo photography exhibition in Manhattan’s Lower East Side represents a pivotal moment in any artist’s career. On the sixth of May in 2015, this became my turning point — a day that fundamentally altered the trajectory of my work.

As a footnote to this occasion, I later learned that this exhibition held a particular distinction: it was the first solo photography exhibition by a Spanish photographer in New York City created entirely with images captured through a mobile phone.

Madrid Impronta exhibition at the 2015 edition of PhotoEspaña.

Following the exhibition of the photography book Impronta in New York, the opportunity to present a solo exhibition in Madrid held profound significance. The city of my birth became the venue for this continuation at Mad is Mad Gallery, within the esteemed Photo España circuit during its 2015 iteration.

These two cities, New York and Madrid, have marked the essential coordinates of my artistic practice. One my home of origin, the other my adopted residence. To return to Madrid with this body of work, surrounded by the steadfast presence of family and friends, constituted a moment of considerable personal and artistic resonance.

The solemnity of sharing this work in one’s native city, after having done so in a place of such cultural significance as New York, underscored the gravity and continuity of the artistic journey itself.

Impronta Castellón Exhibition

Following the sustained international presentation of Impronta across New York, Madrid, and other cities, my exhibition’s trajectory continued at the Llotja del Canem through the institutional support of Universitat Jaume I (Castellón)

The rector’s opening remarks preceded a comprehensive curatorial tour, affirming the work’s continued resonance across successive venues and underscoring my consistent engagement with the international exhibition landscape.

Particular care was taken in this exhibition to prevent visitors from easily discovering the titles of the photographs, so as not to interfere with their gaze or shape their personal interpretation of the works. As a visual metaphor for nervous connections, red ribbons were employed at the tip of each of which the corresponding label was discreetly inserted.
